It’s me once again nature’s stitches posing as Goshyarnsit ( aka) Kat ,to her friends.

Anyway to make a long introduction short (to late) I welcome you to my somewhat witty, ever random blog spot.
No,not the black spot, just spot, and not the dog spot either focus, people focus!

We are gathered here today to speak on the long awaited, but promised topic of......wait for it !!!!
  AMIGARUMI!!  TTAAA-DAAAA

The word Amigarumi has its origin is in the Japanese language, in simplest translation means knitted or crocheted
stuffed doll.  We have also brought stuffed animals into the family.

This is a style of crochet that's started with a magic loop which can be cinched  tight as to have no starting hole.
It is done in a spiral round, to make it more smooth and even, for amazing 3D shapes such as bodies, heads,
arms, legs.ears,tails,muzzles,....well, you get the idea.

Amigurumi  is a lot of fun and easy to lean.Once you have mastered the magic loop
( which is how  true amigarumi  starts )  the rest is easy. However with that being said, there are a
few tricks of the trade I have learned or added myself to make it more fun. I would insert picture here of
example but my daughter has to find it first ,.
Moving on

Most patterns are written in regular crochet  or knitted style patterns. However there are
some written graph style,in the round. Those confuse me, but might be great for you.

Ok ok ok what is the magic loop and why is it so darn important. The magic loop is a way of
starting your project where after the first couple round, you can pull the tail and it closes
the starting circle tight. This is very important for a nicer looking finished project and for
keeping the stuffing in place. With that being said, you have several options for keeping
your finished piece stuffed nicely. If the toy is going to be played with a lot,a nice yarn
with a little body to it for firmness helps. Going Down a size  in crochet hook or knitting needles than what
pattern calls for, makes a denser toy ( no,not dumb ) sheesh.
With the holes closer together makes stuffing stay better and makes for a  more durable toy ( note ) going
down a hook or needle size will make the finished project smaller than original pattern size.
Also taking small sections of panty hose ( which if you get white ) can easily be dyed to match yarn, but not
necessary. These sections can be filled with stuffing, stitched closed and put in different parts of your toy or doll.
This ensures stuffing is harder to get out.
Now one more thing about the magic loop.
There are many YouTube videos on the various ways to start a magic loop. No one way is better than another
for the finished project,it’s a matter of which way is easier for you to remember or learnOnce you have the
basics you can create your own creatures or there are literally thousands of patterns out there both for a
small fee or free, enjoy!
Well, I hope this gets you thinking about amigarumi and maybe giving it a try it’s also a great way to use up
scraps of yarn left over from other projects which is a great and cost efficient way of using your stash. It also makes
it very effective when mentioning to your significant other why you need more yarn. It’s never too early to start
projects for Christmas ho ho...... I know, I know it’s barely May, but I’m helping ,,
That’s all for now my fiber friends, until next time.
We can change the world one good deed at a time go out a make a difference!
